In Hooper's umpiring in yesterday's game at the Union Park his voice could not be heard in the stand, to the great dissatisfaction of the spectators. As a result Hooper retired, and his place will be filled to-day by Dan DeVinney, who received his commission as a Union Association Umpire last night.-St. Louis Globe-Democrat, May 9, 1884
