George Seward, before calling play yesterday, notified Sweeny that he would have to deliver the ball with his arm below his shoulder or pass a balk called for every infraction of the rule. Sweeny conformed to the rule and all reports that he could not do so proved to be false.-St. Louis Globe-Democrat, August 6, 1884
